According to studies in the field of segregation, objective dimensions dominated by quantitative studies are not enough to give a deep and full understanding of segregation, in case of its origin and consequences. So, with the advent of new approaches towards the subjective dimensions of segregation, the sense of place concept has attracted the attention of many researchers in different fields with different approaches. However, a lack of comprehensive research that covers all dimensions and components of the sense of place concept relating to socio-spatial segregation is apparent. The mentioned model includes defining a specific research question, comprehensive and systematic search in literature, evaluation of studies, extracting information, analyzing and combining qualitative findings, controlling the quality of findings, and presenting findings. On that basis, a systematic review of the literature through the qualitative meta-synthesis method has been conducted. In the first step, among the 80 primary articles found, 55 articles were screened with the criteria and methods used for evaluation. Indeed, from 129 extracted codes and based on the emerged concepts, main concepts, and themes, 3 themes of sense of place relating to segregation phenomenon including «emotional components of human-place interactions», «cognitive components of human-place interactions», and «behavioral components of human-place interactions», were identified. Regarding segregation, the main concepts of emotional components of the human-place interactions theme are «physical quality», «spatial structure», and «urban decay». In cognitive components of human-place interactions related to segregation, «feelings», «fear of another group and difference», «prejudice», «bad reputation of place», «sense of superiority over another group», «sense of ownership over resources and facilities», «sense of identity and defending one's own identity against others», «labeling», «stigmatization», and «othering» are the most important emerged concepts.
