he housing crisis intensified and with the aim of providing shelter for low-income groups, "Mehr Housing and then National Housing" was put on the agenda as the government's main strategy for mass housing production. Qualitative assessments indicate a clear conflict between the output of this model and the principles of Islamic-Iranian architecture. On the other hand, ignoring "climate-compatible architecture" in these housing units has led to "massive waste in energy consumption." The present article, using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to examine the rethinking of national housing production patterns in the mirror of Iranian Islamic architecture (case study: the city of Zanjan). Data collection was carried out through library and field studies. Data analysis was also carried out using the Delphi method, single-sample T-test, and path analysis in the DPSIR format with the help of SPSS software. The research findings showed that the current national housing model of Zanjan is in the middle of planning and regulation and has a noticeable distance from the principles of Islamic-Iranian architecture. Indicators such as “sales density” with an average of 3.82 as the strongest driving force and “symbolic functions” with an average of 3.74 as the design strength. In contrast, the indicators of “neighbor’s right” with a very low average of 2.50, “appropriate daylighting design” with an average of 1.96 and “presence of natural elements” with an average of 2.18 are in an unfavorable situation, indicating a serious neglect of the principles of privacy, neighborhood and connection with nature.
