Abstract
The existence of a gap between the urban planning education system and the professional system is a challenge that all the stakeholders of the urban planning system acknowledge. And a fundamental change from the approaches of the first generation universities to the fourth generation has been defined in the macro field on the same basis and with the aim of reducing this gap and increasing the effectiveness of the education field in the living environment. The first and main strategy for the realization of the fourth generation university is to pay attention to the social responsibility approach of the university in the macro and micro spheres. The purpose of the upcoming research is to explain the position of this approach in the field of urban planning with the aim of reducing the gap between the education system and the profession. Based on this, the structure of the research is qualitative and thematic analysis method and semi-structured interview method have been used in the form of in-depth interview for application in Yazd University (as a case study). In order to collect data, documents and library resources, and specifically, a questionnaire and a semi-structured interview method in the form of an in-depth interview, were used. The studied community, in other words, the main sources of data, includes all professors, students, graduates, policy makers involved in the urban planning education system (with an emphasis on Yazd urban planning training group) and professionals, urban planning consulting engineers and managers and employees of related departments and graduates from Yazdast University. .
Due to the high volume of the study population, sampling and specifically the snowball method was used to select the samples. Also, the required and sufficient sample size to conduct the interview has been determined by sequential sampling (increasing the sample size until theoretical adequacy is reached); Therefore, the sample size is already uncertain and after reaching theoretical saturation in the obtained results, sampling will be stopped. In this regard, interviews have been conducted with 25 professors, students, city planning consultants, employees of employer organizations and Yazd Engineering Organization. Also, in order to confirm the reliability of the research, the method of receiving feedback from the respondents has been used and reliability has been confirmed. The results of the research indicate that the realization of the social responsibility approach of the university in the four dimensions of education, research, values and services can reduce the gap between the education system of urban planning and profession through the proposed research model. Also, according to the results of the research, the five themes of revising the structure and title of the course, revising the title of the workshops, modifying the structure and logic of the goals of the course, acting on social moral responsibility and revising the support mechanism of the five main themes and the basis of the guide to acting on social responsibility approach of the University (Yazd) with the aim of reducing the gap of opinion and Actions are in the field of urban planning.
